It all began with a question. How do we get kids to understand the global issue of hunger? With the disparity between children who have enough food to eat and the rise of food insecurity in our nation and across the globe, UNICEF USA set out to illustrate the problem in way children can understand it, whereby creating global citizens at an early age, and tackling the childhood obesity epidemic head on. UNICEF Kid Power was born as a wearable device that enables children to earn activity points which “unlocks” therapeutic food packets for acutely malnourished children in developing countries.
We partnered with Target as the exclusive retailer, Disney/LucasFilm and the Star Wars film release to attract the attention of children, and P!nk as the newest UNICEF Ambassador to lift up the cause to support severely malnourished children in developing countries around the world.
